Gyms in Costessey and Bowthorpe are estate gyms in the best sense: functional fitness on Francis Way, a women only gym on Morgan Way, and a health club out at Longwater.

Two growth areas, one training map
Costessey splits between New Costessey in NR5 and Old Costessey in NR8, with Queen's Hills and Longwater carrying the newer housing. Bowthorpe is the western estate proper, and its industrial park is where the serious training happens. Between them they make the western edge the most functional fitness heavy part of Norwich, with RS3FIT and GAIN within a couple of miles of each other.
Broadside Warriors Amateur Boxing Club is at Horizon Works on Dereham Road, Norwich Kung Fu Academy is at Clover Hill, and Savage Martial Arts and RONIN Karate run sessions from Costessey and Queen's Hill community venues.
What is missing out west
No 24 hour gym and no public pool. If you want either, you are driving. The closest round the clock option is Complete Fitness on Heigham Street, and the closest pool with published prices is Sportspark at UEA.
