The hospital and the Research Park set the hours

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital employs around 8,000 people and treats roughly 800,000 patients a year. Norwich Research Park in Colney puts UEA, the hospital, the John Innes Centre, the Quadram Institute, the Earlham Institute and The Sainsbury Laboratory inside a one kilometre radius, alongside more than fifty businesses in around 100,000 square feet.

None of that works on a nine to five gym timetable, which is why the two 24 hour sites on Hall Road matter more here than anywhere else in the city. If you work a rotating shift at the NNUH, round the clock access is not a luxury feature, it is the only thing that makes membership usable.

Eaton Park, and the free option

Norwich parkrun meets at Eaton Park, South Park Avenue NR4 7AZ, at 9am every Saturday. Event 770 on 12 September 2026 drew 532 finishers and 33 volunteers, which makes it one of the larger parkruns in the region. Colney Lane parkrun is 1.3 miles away and Mulbarton 4.1 miles, so NR4 residents have three inside five miles.
