A student gym Norwich search has two right answers depending on which campus you are on, and the gap between them is about £180 a year.
UEA students: Sportspark is the answer
Sportspark sits on the UEA campus at NR4 7TJ and carries a fifty metre pool, floodlit astro pitches, an athletics track and the tallest climbing wall in Norfolk. Student pricing runs Gold at £320 a year, Silver at £230 a year or £50 up front plus £24.50 a month, and an off peak gym and swim option at £157.50 a year. Membership includes BUCS UNIversal access to almost 100 facilities nationally, and student Gold now includes peak time group exercise for the first time.
Any full time student aged 16 or over can buy an Educational Sportscard for £13.50 a year. UEA staff pay £34.25 for Gold and there is a Blue Light rate of £39. Public Gold is £42, so the student rate is the discount that actually matters here.
UEA had 16,945 students in 2024/25, 12,535 undergraduate and 4,410 postgraduate. There are over 4,300 rooms on campus, so the majority live in Earlham, the Golden Triangle or the city centre and commute in.
NUA and City College students: the centre, not the campus
Norwich University of the Arts is a city centre institution, twelve buildings across St Georges Street, Duke Street and St Andrews Street with reception at Francis House on Redwell Street. Its 2,765 students are in the same few streets as The Gym Group on Little London Street and PureGym in the Castle Quarter, and a long bus ride from Sportspark. City College Norwich runs over 11,000 learners across three sites.
Prices for that market: The Gym Group student membership starts at £139 for nine or twelve months with no joining fee, plus a 20 per cent student saver code. Phoenix Gym charges students £24.99 a month standard or £29.99 premium, against £29.99 and £34.99 public. PureGym Castle Mall starts at £16.99 with a £9.99 joining fee.
Term dates and the January trap
NUA's 2026/27 calendar runs Welcome Week 21 to 25 September 2026, Term 1 from 28 September to 11 December, Term 2 from 11 January to 19 March 2027 and Term 3 from 12 April to 2 July, with a winter break from 14 December to 8 January. A twelve month membership bought in September therefore covers roughly nine months of actual term.
That is the whole argument for the nine month student product. Before you buy twelve, work out whether you are in Norwich over the summer. We do not publish UEA's own 2026/27 term dates here because we could not verify them from the source, so take those from the university directly.
The Gym Group student membership from £139 for nine or twelve months with no joining fee. At Sportspark the off peak gym and swim option is £157.50 a year.
